What’s going on with the real estate market???
Land isn’t selling because building materials are too expensive…
Buyers aren’t qualifying like they used to in the higher price points…
Deals are falling apart at the last minute…
I feel like I’m having flashbacks to 2008 when the bottom dropped out of the housing market! The Greater Boston market is still relatively strong, but things are shifting FAST in other states across the country.
So, what does this mean for you?
Honestly, this could be REALLY good news for both buyers and sellers. I am looking forward to being able to make appointments for private showings, rather than adhering to a ridiculous timeline of competing weekend open houses. This gives my buyers a little breathing room and time to choose the right house instead of settling for whatever they can get!
And sure, sellers might not be inundated with countless competing offers if the market shifts, but they also stand a much better chance of having the deal go through instead of falling apart at the last minute!
I wish I could tell you exactly where the real estate market is going, but my crystal ball is currently out of commission! We all just need to sit back, take a collective deep breath, and be patient.
There are a lot of variables that drive the housing market, and many of them are beyond our control. We don’t have any say in interest rates, inventory, or the unrealistic expectations of buyers and sellers.
If you’re buying or selling in an unpredictable market, you’ve got to be prepared to face some ups and downs. It’s frustrating – especially when a deal goes south – but the only thing you can control is your reaction to the situation.
Want some advice?
If your dream house falls through or your sale falls apart, don’t lose your cool. Give yourself 5 minutes to be sad. Give that deal a 5-minute funeral and then move on and look for a solution.
That’s honestly pretty great advice for any situation that’s out of your control. Give yourself a 5-minute pity party, then move on to your next great opportunity!
