I’ve been feeling really frustrated lately, and I don’t think I’m alone!
The world seems like it’s gone crazy, the real estate market is nuts, and interest rates shot up overnight. I started to feel like everything was working against me, you know what I mean?
Then I got covid, (despite being vaccinated), and found myself with some time on my hands to think…
My symptoms were mild, and even though I felt pretty crappy for 24 hours, I knew I was one of the lucky ones. And honestly, while being sick isn’t any fun, it was exactly what I needed to change my perspective. Covid made me ask myself, “what is your problem?”
When I took the time to think about what was REALLY bringing me down, I was able to recognize that my frustration was coming from not being able to have what I wanted exactly when I wanted it. I wasn’t facing a real crisis, I was being impatient – and this is what I learned:
- Yes, the real estate market is crazy right now, but that’s not always a bad thing!
People get scared off when they hear that it’s a sellers’ market. They’re certain that they’re going to overpay, or that they’ll never find the right property, but that’s simply not the case.
There are lots of wonderful homes available in your budget – you just have to keep an open mind.
Be willing to explore new neighborhoods. Be reasonable about your expectations and prioritize what really matters to you.
Nobody finds a PERFECT house, but open-minded buyers almost always find a home that meets all their needs and most of their wants.
- Yes, interest rates are high, but that will change.
Friends, you might not want to hear it, but a 5% interest rate is still far lower than it was just a few years ago. We all knew 0% couldn’t last forever!
Interest rates change. Home values fluctuate. The real estate market is cyclical, and the only constant is change.
Don’t let higher interest rates convince you that now is not the time to buy a home. If you’re ready for a new place, bear in mind that you can always refinance when interest rates drop in the future.
- The right home is out there!
When you’ve looked at countless properties and still haven’t found the right fit, it’s frustrating! Losing your dream home to an all-cash, no-inspection offer can fill you with rage. I totally get it! But I promise, your new home is out there waiting for you, and I won’t stop until we find it.
The current real estate market can be incredibly frustrating, but don’t let it overwhelm you. Remember that this is temporary, and you don’t have to do it alone!
